OUR MISSION & VISION

The mission of the Variety Boys & Girls Club is a community resource for Eastside Los Angeles youth and their families to advance their economic and social well-being through innovative programs focused on academic achievement, college and career exploration, and leadership development. Our vision is that all children will have an opportunity to excel in school and career, and contribute fully to society.

OUR KIDS & THE COMMUNITY

The community of Boyle Heights  is a 6.2 square mile area and is one of the most densely populated areas in Los Angeles.  The average household size is 4.0 people and 33.4 percent speak English not well or not at all.  More than 90 percent are Latinos, 83 percent live in family households and close to 72 percent live in rental property.
